Salvador Airport’s food court resumes its regular opening hours

After going through improvements, Salvador Airport’s Food Court has resumed its regular opening hours, working 24h a day. The construction of a slab to support the new pre-boarding area and the change of the following systems: electrical, refrigeration, firefighting and fire prevention are among the works done.
The Food Court got closed on weekdays from 10 PM to 6 AM between August and November. During those months, passengers had vending machines, kiosks, Bobs and Pastelo restaurants as alternatives since they have remained working 24h a day.
The works were finished on September 24th, a week earlier than the expected deadline (November 1st).  So, passengers who have passed through Salvador Airport to enjoy the national holidays, starting November 2nd, could find the Food Court opened at dawn.

 

Other improvements

 

The Food Court had also its lamps replaced by LED ones. The same lighting pattern have already been adopted in other spots, such as at the check-in area and under the external roof.
Besides being more powerful, LED lamps consume less energy than traditional ones. At the end of the modernization works at Salvador Airport, a 100% of the Terminal will use this kind of technology. The change will result in a 30% energy saving in lighting consuming at the Airport.
Passengers will find other changes at the Terminal soon. The construction of the new area to place the airlines offices and its sales counters have been already finished. Airlines will move its facilities from check-in area to a spot close to the International boarding.
The new room, besides being bigger and renovated, offers more comfort to airlines employees and passengers. All the carriers that operates at Salvador Airport will concentrate its offices activities and tickets sales at this new area.

 

About the works

 

The changes are part of the construction works schedule fixed at the Airport concession contract, through which VINCI Airports took over the management of the operations in the facility. The works are divided in two phases (1B and 1C) in the next four years. The first one has begun in April 2018 and is predicted to be concluded in October 2019. The second phase will be finished in October 2021.

The first phase involves expansion and renovation works in the passenger terminal, changes in departure and landing, modernization of toilets and changing rooms, improvements in signaling, installation of new air conditioning and venting systems, as well as other improvements.
