Salvador Bahia Airport welcomes two more flights

The new routes are to Maceió (AL) and Teixeira de Freitas, in Bahia's hinterland

Since September 2nd, Salvador Bahia Airport, a member of the VINCI Airports network, has two more regular routes: one to Teixeira de Freitas, in the state's hinterland, and one to Maceió, in Alagoas. Operated by Azul Linhas Aéreas, the new flights are the result of a joint effort between the Airport and the State Government, via the Secretariat of Tourism (Setur), to increase the local air network.

The Salvador-Maceió route resumes regular flights to this destination, which had not been taking place since June this year, due to the closure of Avianca Brasil's activities. “The Salvador-Teixeira de Freitas route fills a gap that has existed since 2004 and will stimulate regional connectivity, linking the southern tip of Bahia to the capital,” says Salvador Bahia Airport commercial director Marc Gordien.

The new routes aim to boost and encourage tourist activity. For Maceió, it is estimated a volume of 58,900 passengers per year and, for Teixeira de Freitas, 11,600 people are expected. Those interested in these destinations may already schedule their trips. The flight to Maceió, aboard the 118-seat Embraer 195 aircraft, will take place Mondays through Saturdays, departing from the Bahian capital at 2:10 pm and arriving at its destination at 3:10 pm. Departing from Maceió, the flights leave at 3:45 pm and land in Salvador at 4:45 pm.

The flight to Teixeira de Freitas aboard the 70-seat ATR 72-600 aircraft will take place twice a week, Mondays and Fridays, departing Salvador at 12:45 pm and arriving at the destination at 2:20 pm. The other way around, the flights leave Teixeira de Freitas at 10:35 am and arrive in the Bahian capital at 12:10 pm.
